Jellyfish Originals, the kids’ and family content division of global animation and VFX studio Jellyfish Pictures, and Toikido, a creative toy-led gaming studio, have announced a co-production agreement on a new animated kids’ series, “Battalor.”
The CG animated series is inspired by a premium performance-based action battling toy created by Toikido. It is developed for TV and written by Jordan Gershowitz, a two-time Emmy-nominated writer.
This futuristic, high-voltage action-comedy series charts the adventures of three unlikely kid heroes who unite to save Velo City and master the battling powers of the Battalors after the metropolis is invaded by an omnipotent evil.
“‘Battalor’ is an exciting new universe that combines thrilling battles with humor and heart,” says Gershowitz. “I’m excited to explore these characters’ journeys and the dynamic world of Velo City. Together with Jellyfish Originals and Toikido, we aim to create a series that resonates with kids and encourages them to embrace their own creativity.”
Jellyfish Originals will provide script-to-screen production services and manage global distribution rights. Toikido will spearhead the global licensing program and gaming development.
“Jellyfish is delighted to be collaborating with Toikido and Jordan Gershowitz on this toy-driven property and I’m excited to present ‘Battalor’ to the international market,” says Natalie Llewellyn, managing director, Jellyfish Originals. “Together, we’ve consciously crafted an ambitious universe that is a sandbox for high-stake storytelling, sticky play patterns and characters that our audience will emotionally invest in.”
“We are very excited to partner with Jellyfish Originals and Jordan Gershowitz to bring ‘Battalor’ to life,” says Darran Garnham, chief executive officer, founder, Toikido. “This series represents a bold step forward in merging high-octane action with engaging storytelling appealing not only to kids, but also to collectors and families. Our goal is to create a universe where imagination and play come together, igniting passion in a new generation of fans.”
Jellyfish Originals’ managing director, Natalie Llewellyn, will present “Battalor” to global buyers at Kidscreen 2025 in February.
