MTV Networks International has launched the first Nickelodeon-branded block in the Ukraine. The multi-year deal includes 800 half-hour episodes of Nickelodeon’s animated content such as “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “The Penguins of Madagascar,” “Rugrats” and “Back at the Barnyard,” which will be localized for Ukrainian audiences.

The branded block will air daily on QTV, one of the leading Ukrainian cable TV channels, and on weekends on STB, one the Ukraine’s top three terrestrial broadcasters. Both QTV and STB are a part of the StarLightMedia Group.

“We are delighted to launch a Nickelodeon-branded block on STB and QTV, the first of its kind in the Ukraine,” says Maria Rakhmatullina-Ufland, sales director of emerging markets at MTVNI. “Nickelodeon is a global leader in animation and our shows have a proven track record in crossing borders and scoring successes the world over.”

Sergei Nazarov, programming director at STB says: “We consider Nickelodeon animation to be top of its class with really unique content that will make an important contribution to the further growth and success of our channel portfolio. STB is proud to be home to some of the world’s most popular TV shows.”
