Viacom18 Media has secured the TV, digital, home entertainment, licensing and merchandising rights to Studio 100 Media and m4e’s preschool series “Wissper” across the Indian subcontinent.

The deal, which extends to Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will see Viacom18 continue to develop “Wissper”’s licensing program.

Viacom18 has also brokered a deal with Simba Toys India to release a line of toys in the fall.

“Wissper” follows the adventures of the eponymous young character, who uses her secret ability to communicate with animals to help them resolve conflicts.

“Our partnership with Viacom18 will be introducing ‘Wissper’ to kids and families in India, which is a key territory within our international broadcasting and licensing strategy,” says Peter Kleinschmidt, international commercial director, Studio 100/m4e. “We have chosen Viacom18 as a local expert for guiding ‘Wissper’ and us into this extremely interesting market. We are very excited about the commercial perspectives this huge market has to offer.”

“Wissper” will debut on Nick Jr. in India this fall.
