BBC Worldwide Consumer Products has launched the licensing program for its long-running series, “Something Special” with the announcement of new partners for the brand.

Golden Bear has been awarded the U.K. master toy license and will develop a range of products that will be released later this year. The highlights of the range include a Mr Tumble tea set, an interactive toy telephone and Mr Tumble soft toys.

Jumbo Games will produce four, shaped puzzles in a box for September with a puzzle assortment, memo and floor game planned for release next year; Portico, has already launched a “Something Special” card range and will follow with a calendar; Mc Cambridge Group is developing celebration cakes; and Trade Mark will produce a Mr Tumble spotty bag. Mr Tumble already has a stand-alone magazine.

“Something Special” is a children’s show designed for all children including those with learning and communication difficulties. More than 100 episodes have aired on CBeebies since 2003 and the show is consistently one of the channel’s top performers.

“We’re delighted to bring this fantastically successful preschool program to the licensing community,” says Richard Hollis, head of U.K. licensing, BBC Worldwide. “We are very happy to be working with partners to enhance all children’s enjoyment of the show, regardless of ability, through imaginative play, communication and fun. We really look forward to working with many more licensees with a program that we believe has a lot of creative potential.”
