Archie Comics has teamed up with Moonscoop to co-produce a new series featuring the iconic comic book characters Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica and Reggie.

The 2D animated show, “It’s Archie,” will feature the well-known characters as 12-year-olds in their hometown of Riverdale.

“These wonderful kids of ‘It’s Archie’ are a bit younger than we’ve ever seen them before, but possessed with the same basic personalities that have endeared them since their introduction in the Archie Comics over 70 years ago,” says Mike Young, chief executive officer, Moonscoop.  

Season one of “It’s Archie” will have 52 11-minute episodes and will be offered at MIPJunior and MIPCOM Oct. 5-10 in Cannes, France.

“‘It’s Archie’ is the first new Archie animation in many years. We are very excited to be working with Moonscoop and can’t wait for a new generation of cartoon fans to embrace Archie, Betty, Veronica and the entire Riverdale gang,” says Jon Goldwater, publisher and co-chief executive officer, Archie Comics.

In other news for the comic book characters, Women’s Wear Daily reports that British shoe designer Charlotte Olympia features Archie, Betty and Veronica in her new resort collection.
