The Charlotte Hornets and the Los Angeles Clippers will take part in the National Basketball Association's NBA Global Games China event this October.

The teams will face off in two pre-season games as part of the NBA Global Games series, which sees teams from across the league play in countries around the world including Mexico and the U.K., in addition to China.

“Basketball is more popular than ever, and Global Games China 2015 is part of our ongoing commitment to growing the game in the world’s most populous nation," says Adam Silver, commissioner, NBA. "These games will not only bring the excitement of NBA action directly to Chinese fans, but will also provide the league another opportunity to experience the rich history and culture of China.”

The Clippers and Hornets will play the first-ever NBA game in Shenzhen on Oct. 11, followed by a rematch in Shanghai on Oct. 14. Additional games will be announced at a later date.

NBA Global Games China will also feature a variety of off-court activities including NBA Cares community programs.

“The NBA Global Games is one of the highlights of the Shanghai sports calendar," says Li Yuyi, director, Shanghai Administration of Sports. "The buzz and energy surrounding the event is incredible, as it showcases some of the best on-court NBA action along with the community visits that allow ordinary fans to see the players up close and for the players to experience Shanghai.”
