Man U to Host Live Fan Events

Manchester United has unveiled plans for a series of new fan events in Asia and South Africa that will share the history and traditions of the football club with its 264 million fans in the region.

The "United: Live" events will take place across Thailand, Indonesia, South Africa and China and encompass two new programs: Football Festival and Red vs. Red.

Football Festival. The event will take place in Bangkok, Jakarta and Beijing and will be a multi-zone football and entertainment experience. The full day event will feature exclusive, live screenings of "The Greatest Story Ever Told" (an interactive experience that examines the history of the club), live music acts, Manchester United Soccer Schools events, live Q&A sessions and club partner fan zones.

Red vs. Red, which will take place in Bangkok, Johannesburg and Beijing, will see two of the club's players go head to head against each other, captaining opposing teams in a battle of skill and agility.

"'United: Live' is the latest example

of the club's determination to engage with its fans, wherever they live," says Richard Arnold, group managing director, Manchester United. "These innovative and interactive events will allow our fans in Thailand, Indonesia, South Africa and China to share and deepen their passion for the club. With the help of our family of commercial partners we aim to captivate, entertain and interact with the people who make this club unique–its fans."

Tickets to the events are free via an application process on the Manchester United website. Fans can apply now through Nov. 30 and will notified if they have been selected two weeks before each event.

The first "United:Live" is set to take place in Bangkok on Dec. 13 and 14, with the inaugural Football Festival and Red vs. Red match, featuring Andy Cole and Ronny Johnsen.
