Extreme to Develop Sports Destination

The Circuit of Wales has signed on with The Extreme Sports Company, owner of the Extreme lifestyle brand, to develop an Extreme-branded sports, leisure and entertainment destination.

Themed destination will include mountain bike trails, indoor skiing, a VR zone and more.

The proposed infrastructure project will include leisure and outdoor activities, innovation zones and a motorsport facility, and is expected to attract 750,000 visitors a year.

Proposed facilities for the destination include mountain bike trails, a BMX park, indoor skiing, trampolines, skate park, virtual reality zone, surf park, live music stages and more. It will also be accompanied by two new hotels and a campsite.

“With the growth and interest we are seeing in our sector, it is fantastic to announce this world-leading Extreme Destination, combining a never-before-seen collection of sports, entertainment and leisure experiences,” says Alistair Gosling, chairman and chief executive officer, Extreme.

An opening date for the Extreme Destination has not been released.

“Our partnership with Extreme underlines the

unique range of activities, facilities and services the Circuit’s enterprise cluster will offer Wales and the U.K.,” says Martin Whitaker, chief executive officer, The Circuit of Wales. “The Circuit aims to provide much more than a racing facility; it will be a 365-day leisure and business destination. The support we have received to date from the racing, automotive and investment communities emphasizes the Circuit’s long-term role in boosting tourism, creating jobs and diversifying the local economy.”
