Universal Adds Plush Partner in U.K., Ireland

Posh Paws International has signed on as the official plush partner for Illumination and Universal Pictures’ Despicable Me and Sing franchises. The company also has the plush rights for DreamWorks’ Trolls and the upcoming film Trolls World Tour to be released in 2020.

Rainbow Designs is on board for plush for DreamWorks Heritage titles such as Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar, and DreamWorks’ Baby. The deal also extends to Universal’s Vault, classic TV and movie brands and the upcoming DreamWorks Animation film, Abominable, which will roll out later this year.

“The plush category is often an entry point to our properties for young children,” says Hannah Mungo, country manager, U.K. and Ireland, Universal Brand Development. “Posh Paws and Rainbow Designs are market leaders and experts in bringing animated characters to life through beautiful, high quality, authentic plush that children love and cherish. 'Oddbods' Evens Out Endless Runner Game

“Oddbods Turbo Run” combines freemium gameplay and “Oddbods” humor in a multi-level game.

The game had a soft launch last month in the U.S., Malaysia and the Philippines and is available in languages including Spanish, French, Portuguese, Turkish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Bahasa Indonesia, Thai and Vietnamese.

Broadfield Widens Role at Turner International

Turner International's Johanne Broadfield has expanded her duties as vice president of Cartoon Network Enterprises EMEA and International Strategy. 

Broadfield will continue to manage Turner’s licensing activities across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in a unit that includes product licensing, promotions, publishing, home entertainment, location-based entertainment, live events and retail development for Turner’s portfolio of brands.

She is now tasked with overseeing Turner’s international licensing strategy and partnering with Cartoon Network’s U.S. team for key decision-making. Broadfield will also take joint responsibility for the profit and loss of Cartoon Network’s licensing activities in Latin America alongside Pablo Zuccarino, senior vice president and general manager, Kids Latin America. In addition, she will form a close partnership with Vikram Sharma, vice president, Cartoon Network Enterprises, Asia Pacific in a strategic capacity.

“Since joining Turner five years ago, Jo has proven herself a talented leader with the ability to build and sustain our franchises in the licensing arena, raise the bar on what we deliver to our partners and get the very best out of those she works with,” says Giorgio Stock, president, Turner EMEA. “Together with the international L&M leadership team, she will now play an important role in shaping our international operation, to capitalize on opportunities, synergies and best practice across the regions.”

Broadfield joined Turner EMEA in February 2014. Before joining the company, she held various leadership positions in the consumer products division at Mattel including senior director for Continental Europe and senior director for U.K., Eastern Europe and Canada. Broadfield also served as head of Fisher-Price Consumer Products for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Egmont will introduce the collectibles brand to the U.K. magazine market with a publication that will feature Fingerlings toys on the cover and include games, puzzles and stories.

Fingerlings magazine is set to launch later this year.
