Target and Shipt have teamed up for same-day delivery. Target will leverage its network of stores and Shipt’s proprietary technology platform and community of shoppers to bring same-day delivery to guests across the country. The service is available now via the Target app.

The app integration follows the launch of a same-day delivery shopping site on Target.com earlier this year. Two years ago, Target acquired Shipt and its technology for $550 million. Developments between the two were planned to launch as an online site in 2018 for the holiday season, and app developments were announced and launched in late November.

“We… included a focus on giving our guests a number of convenient ways to shop with Target, whether it’s ordering online and picking up in one of our stores, driving up to pick up an order, or taking advantage of services like our new restock program,” says John Mulligan, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Target. “With Shipt’s network of local shoppers and their current market penetration, we will move from days to hours, dramatically accelerating our ability to bring affordable same-day delivery to guests across the country. Shipt’s service-oriented approach aligns well with Target’s commitment to delivering an exceptional shopping experience for our guests.”

The Shipt app will still exist separate from Target, but this extension will allow same-day delivery to be available in nearly 250 markets across 48 states. Shoppers can choose from 65,000 different items to be delivered to their doors, much like Amazon Prime Now.

No membership is needed for this same-day delivery service. Instead, a $9.99 delivery fee per same-day order will be instilled on purchases.
