Irish apparel retailer Primark, which currently operates more than 250 stores across the U.K., Ireland and Europe, is planning to open its first U.S. store in Boston, Mass.
The budget retailer will open up shop in Boston’s Burnham Building, previously home to Filene’s Department Store, in late 2015.
The move follows in the footsteps of other European retailers including Topshop, H&M, Tesco and Marks & Spencer, which have expanded to the U.S. with varying degrees of success.
The retailer reported Wednesday that its profits has risen 26 percent in the six months up to March 1. The store is a unit of the food and retail company Associated British Foods.
Primark also said it was negotiating for other U.S. retail space in the Northwest and plans to open additional locations in 2016.
