E-commerce site eBay will offer its first-ever community sneaker drop, an exclusive listing of select styles from leading footwear brands, on June 27.

Inspired by the popularity of streetwear, the new eBay space will offer sneaker enthusiasts access to select styles directly from brands like Adidas, Stadium Goods and Reebok, with free shipping. The drop will provide space for sellers to list their shoes and to connect with other sneakerhead community members.

According to eBay, more than 1.2 million sneakers are listed on eBay every day, with a pair purchased every 1.5 seconds.

“Sneakerheads relentlessly chase new additions to their collections, especially with the releases slated for June," says Renee Paradise, senior director, fashion, eBay. “We wanted to offer a new way to bring together the best selection of rare pairs and trending collaborations in one destination for our community of sneaker fans—to create the ultimate 'drop' that only eBay could deliver.”

To mark the occasion, eBay will craft a custom installation in association with an unannounced streetwear artist which will be revealed at the Stadium Good’s store in New York’s Soho neighborhood. The artwork will be featured on eBay’s social platforms the night before the drop.
