The retailer’s first locations are set to open in Mumbai and Delhi early next year.

ASIA–Fashion retailer American Eagle Outfitters has entered into a multi-year agreement with the Aditya Birla Group to open licensed retail locations throughout India.

Through the agreement, American Eagle will enter the Indian market for the first time. The Aditya Birla Group will also utilize its strong digital and omni-channel capabilities to develop and promote the brand in the country.

“India’s rapidly developing and vibrant economy, anchored by the world’s largest youth population, provides an exciting growth opportunity for our brands, expanding our global reach,” says Andrew McLean, executive vice president, global commercial operations, American Eagle. “Aditya Birla brings deep market experience and extensive retail capabilities, giving us a strong platform to deliver our leading AE jeans collections and casual American style to India’s growing market.”

The first American Eagle stores are expected to open in Mumbai and Delhi in spring 2018.
