 “Impulse sales of collectables and lower-priced toys are up, as are licenses from hit movies such as

Frozen.

These two factors have combined in the first six months of the year to deliver a six percent  growth in toy sales by value and a 17 percent increase in unit sales; the fastest growth rate since 2010, and one which suggests that Christmas 2014 might be the best for some time,” says Frederique Tutt, toys global industry analyst , NPD Group.

 “In addition to the significant growth in collectables and lower price toys, we have also seen a sustained trend over the last three to four years towards construction toys,” says Tutt.

According to NPD, Christmas accounts for 33 percent of the U.K.’s annual $4.8 billion toy sales, with children up to the age of 11 receiving an average
