Toys ‘R’ Us has appointed Melanie Teed-Murch as president of the retailer’s Canada business. Teed-Murch will take over the duties Sept. 1, reporting directly to Dave Brandon, chairman and chief executive officer, TRU.

As part of her remit, Teed-Murch will oversee the operations and business activities of TRU and Babies ‘R’ US stores and its e-commerce channel in Canada, as well as drive growth and profitability of the retailer in the region.

“I’m thrilled that Melanie will be taking on this leadership role,” says Brandon. “Her deep experience in retail and drive for results, coupled with her strong relationships across our global teams and vendor community, give me great confidence in her ability to achieve our growth goals in Canada.”

Teed-Murch has been with the organization since 1996, beginning her career as a store manager in the retailer’s Kitchener, Ontario, location. Since, she has risen through the ranks, holding a variety of senior leadership roles, most recently serving as Canada’s chief merchant officer.
