Sears has debuted its new retail model in Dallas, Texas: a smaller, neighborhood store that will become the company standard for new locations. The store is also the first brand-new Sears Appliance & Hardware store to open in 10 years.

While the average Sears Appliance & Hardware Store is between 22-25,000-square feet, the smaller, neighborhood model condenses the original model to 16-18,000 square feet, yet still offers the same size and quality of inventory. Additionally, any item unavailable in store can be ordered and delivered straight to the door of the consumer.

The new store model is also rolling out in Big Rapids, Mich., and Cedar City, Utah.

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, which is the company the stores operate under, is continuing to seek franchises from other hardware brands top open locations under the new, condensed Sears format.
