Children’s brand continues U.K. expansion with apparel, bedding, travel accessories and more.

Rocket Licensing, The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s U.K. licensing agency, has secured a number of new licensees for the children’s brand.

First, VMC Accessories has launched branded sun hats and Paul Dennicci has launched a unisex baby romper. In the coming months, Dennicci will expand its line to include unisex and boys’ sleepsuits, baby hoodies, pram suits and baby mittens featuring a number of designs that will be available at Boots, M&Co and online. Dennicci is also slated to release branded sleeping bags and a baby sleepsuit and hat at retailers later this year.

Next, Poetic Brands will create Very Hungry Caterpillar pajamas and briefs for adults. The new sleepwear line is expected to hit retail in the fourth quarter of this year.

Dreamtex will release alphabet and number duvet sets at retailers Morrisons, Asda, Shop Direct, Tesco, Argos online and Debenhams in Q3.

Finally, Alligator Products will launch a collection of branded travel items including travel harnesses, travel pillows, plush car seats, buggy seatbelt strap covers, car seat organizers, baby on board signs, sunshades and booster seats. Alligator Products’ range will be available at a number of supermarkets, toy shops and do-it-yourself outlets this year.

Additionally, The Very Hungry Caterpillar live tour will kick off in the U.K. this October.

“After nearly half a century, The Very Hungry Caterpillar brand, like the book, is still being discovered by new generations,” says Charlie Donaldson, joint managing director, Rocket Licensing. “The Very Hungry Caterpillar remains unique and uniquely recognizable, a fact that makes it enormously appealing to licensees, retail, consumers and theatergoers alike.”

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is managed in the U.K. by Rocket Licensing through its worldwide agent, The Joester Loria Group.
