Random House Enterprises is launching Matt Sewell's Birds at BLE, with Sewell, renowned for his bird illustrations, painting live at the publisher's stand.

Sewall will do live graffiti and watercolor painting during the show, with the finished artwork being sold to raise money for licensing industry charity, The Light Fund.

Sewell was an artist-in-residence on BBC2's “Springwatch Unsprung” in June. His books, published by Ebury Press–including Our Garden Birds, Our Song Birds, Our Woodland Birds and Owls to be published in November–showcase his quirky, pop-art watercolors now being developed for merchandise.

Sewell’s illustration style has translated to product in the past, having designed apparel and accessories collections for companies such as Paul Smith and Barbour. RHE is now looking to build on this success and develop a merchandise range centered on homewares and gifting.

“Matt's bird illustrations, with their intricate style and vibrant color palette, lend themselves perfectly to a diverse range of products, and we look forward to working with Matt to build a successful product line,” says Jo Edwards, head of licensing and brand development, Random House Enterprises.

Sewell will graffiti part of the Penguin Random House on Tuesday at 11 a.m. and will be live painting watercolors for The Light Fund later in the day at 1:30 p.m.
