The trail will be themed around the 12 days of Christmas. Select artists have been commissioned to create a design for each of the 12 large sculptures. The sculptures will be auctioned online before the holiday with proceeds benefiting BBC Children in Need.
“We’re delighted to be revisiting our partnership with Wild in Art to launch the very first Snowman art trail as part of our 40th-anniversary celebrations for this iconic picture book,” says Izzy Richardson, head, brand management, Penguin Ventures. “Having BBC Children in Need on board as our charity partner is particularly exciting, and we hope to raise as much money as possible to support their incredible work. We can’t wait to see the 12 designs for Walking with The Snowman and to see the response from the public.”
Local school children have also contributed sculptures to the trail via a learning program supported by Salford City Council. Walk with The Snowman will be open to the public Nov. 22 through Jan. 6 at MediaCity U.K.
