Lisle International Licensing has tapped Egmont U.K. to create a full publishing program for its game app “Temple Run.”

The range will include fiction titles, e-books, activity books and magazines.

Egmont is already developing brand-new story content for the endless runner game with a major “choose your own adventure” fiction series planned to launch this year.

“Temple Run is a hugely exciting acquisition for Egmont,” says Emma Cairns Smith, license acquisition director, Egmont U.K. “The game is dynamic and exciting, has cliff hangers, wrong turns, disappointment and triumph, i.e. a publisher’s dream.”

The publisher will also launch a new range of activity books featuring the best app brands for children, with Temple Run as the series’ flagship title. The Downloaded activity book series will feature puzzle and game content inspired by each app and is expected to be in stores by the summer.

“The partnership with Egmont is perfect for the license as it will allow for deeper involvement by fans into this epic endless runner story and provides a new way for them to experience the excitement that the game creates,” says Gayle Tarrant, licensing manager, Lisle International Licensing. “This next chapter for the Temple Run licensing programme will mark the start of an exciting year for the property, with Temple Run annuals going in to market this month followed by National Geographic non-fiction explorative books planned for fall. In addition a further game release, an additional global platform announcement and increased marketing activity are all planned for 2014 to support the brand and licensees.”
