Foundation Media, Dollhouse Pictures Partner for ‘Wolf Girl’ Film
HarperCollins Children’s Books will also publish the popular Australian children’s novel in the U.S. in March.
Foundation Media Partners has announced a partnership with Rose Byrne’s production company, Dollhouse Pictures, for the film adaption of the bestselling children’s novel, “Wolf Girl,” by Anh Do. The project is the first major motion picture developed from the Australian author’s work.
“Wolf Girl” is an adventure-thriller that has captivated young readers in Australia. The protagonist, Gwen, is a young girl separated from her family who must learn how to survive and is accompanied by a newfound family of canines. The tale of survival, nature, courage and family has resonated with a cross-generational audience. HarperCollins Children’s Books is set to bring the best-selling novel to the U.S. market in March.
Patrick Hughes, chief executive officer and Harvey Russell, chief operating officer, Foundation Media Partners, will bring their expertise in producing commercially successful films and television to the project. Rose Byrne will also produce the movie with her Dollhouse Pictures partners, who have garnered a reputation for championing bold, dynamic stories with a global reach.
“We’re huge fans of Rose and the remarkable team she’s built at Dollhouse Pictures, including her creative partners, Jessica Carrera and Krew Boylan,” say Hughes and Russell in a joint statement. “We knew they would have a vision for the project, and they were our ideal partners. We couldn’t be more thrilled they not only loved the material but were already avid fans of Anh Do’s work and the ‘Wolf Girl’ series. We cannot wait to collaborate with their team.”
“Anh Do’s storytelling is so compelling,” says Byrne. “It’s impossible not to get swept into the adventurous world of Gwen and her faithful canine friends. Themes of courage, resilience and friendship emerge across an epic landscape; these are wonderful aspirational characters who create a formidable family bond. I couldn’t be more excited to champion Wolf Girl’s transition to screen with my partners at Dollhouse, Foundation Media and HarperCollins.”
“The ‘Wolf Girl’ book series has brought joy to millions of children around the world,” says Anh Do. “This film adaptation will bring happiness to millions more. I’m absolutely delighted that the powerhouse Foundation Media and Dollhouse Pictures are teaming up with me to make this happen.”
