U.K. children’s publisher Egmont Publishing and WowWee have unwrapped the official Fingerlings magazine, capitalizing on the popular kids’ collectibles trend.
Fingerlings magazine will be the first publication dedicated to the Fingerlings line of collectibles. The WowWee line of figurines are interactive toys that respond to a user’s touch. Egmont’s debut issue will include four posters, craft activities, character fact files, 60 stickers and prize drawings.
Targeted at children ages 4-7, the publication aims to leverage the popularity of the children’s collectible market. According to a recent NPD study, one-in-four toys sold in the U.K. are a collectible.
“We are very excited about the launch of Fingerlings magazine and to be bringing this adorable brand to the U.K. publishing market,” says Kiran Vara, publisher, Fingerlings magazine. “The excitement and magic of the Fingerlings world translates perfectly to print, and we are sure that Fingerlings, with its incredible appeal to children and core values of friendship and fun, will be an instant winner.”
The new magazine marks another major publishing deal for the Fingerlings brand. In 2018, WowWee kicked things off by tapping two Penguin Random House divisions to create a publishing program for the collectible toy line.
The first issue of Fingerlings is available on U.K. store shelves now.
