DC Thomson Consumer Products has launched a limited edition range of The Beano Alphabet greetings cards and exclusive screen prints at The British Library.

The collection is timed to coincide with the library’s “Comics Unmasked” exhibition, which will celebrate the legacy of classic comic books when it debuts Aug. 19.

Based on The Beano Since 1938 style guide, Hype Associates has developed an exclusive range of greeting cards specifically produced for The British Library that feature letters from the alphabet using classic The Beano artwork. Each card includes a special credit line that details from which issue, story and character the letter was sourced from.

The greeting card range is now available in The British Library gift shops and will roll out to additional retailers in the near future.

As part of the “Comics Unmasked” exhibition, The British Library has also commissioned London-based screen-print artist John Patrick Reynolds to produce exclusive The Beano prints. The “Beryl the Peril” and “Dennis the Menace” screen prints are also currently on sale at The British Library gift shops and will be available for the duration of the show.

"As the U.K.’s largest exhibition of comics, the ‘Comics Unmasked’ exhibition will attract a range of comic fans, so it’s a great opportunity to be able to provide an exclusive product offering at this event that attracts our core demographic,” says Tim Collins, head of brands, DC Thomson. “Representing the best of British comic art, we’re confident that the limited edition gift ranges will be a hit among fans and visitors.”
