DC Thomson Consumer Products has teamed with John Hornby Skewes for a line of musical instruments that features characters from The Beano.

The junior series of real musical instruments for children ages 5-plus features characters including Dennis the Menace, Gnasher and Minnie the Minx and is inspired by Dennis’s band, Dennis and The Dinmakers.

“This exciting new partnership expands our licensing program in a category that we feel is a natural for The Beano–previous rock gods who have been part of The Beano include Eric Clapton, The Kaiser Chiefs and One Direction,” says Tim Collins, head of brands, DC Thomson.

The line will launch at independent music stores across the U.K., the U.S., Australia and Hong Kong later this summer. At launch the range includes three wooden ukuleles, a junior guitar and junior drum set, with planned for the near future.

"When I was just a lad, rushing along to the newsagents to spend my shiny sixpence on the latest issue of The Beano, I couldn’t have imagined that all these years later I’d be involved with my favorite characters, Dennis, Minnie and Gnasher," says Dennis Drumm, managing director, JHS. "We’re delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with DC Thomson and these wonderful, iconic British characters, which for over half a century have brought the tears of laughter to millions."
