Music distributor The Pico Blvd Group has launched a new character concept called Mariachi Los Muertos (Mariachi of the Dead) with more than 50 characters based on traditional Mariachi songs.

Each “muerto” in the Dia De Los Muertos (Day of The Dead) line is based on a specific song and title. The characters together form the band Mariachi Los Muertos.

The Pico Blvd Group created the song-based characters to increase awareness of its catalog of Latin music.

The Mariachi Los Muertos line of characters can now be seen on a range of consumer products including CDs, toys, apparel and greeting cards. The products are tied to the music catalog with most items packaged with an embedded song or download option.

The newest product to be released is a La Llorona bobble head, based on the Weeping Woman legend. The story tells of a woman who drowns her children to be with the man she loves, then, when he rejects her, she drowns herself. La Llorona is not permitted to enter heaven until she finds her children, and spends eternity looking for their souls.
