Currently in production as a series of animated YouTube shorts, “Kuroba!” features powerful spirits, called Kuroba, who have lived in peace and friendship for many years, bringing harmony to the world. However, a mysterious mishap has upset this balance, causing the Kuroba to become mashed-up combinations of one another–unleashing mischief and mayhem upon the Earth. In the YouTube series, three young girls have been chosen to become Kuroba Keepers and are tasked with finding these spirits and restoring harmony back to the world.

In addition to the YouTube series, the brand will aim to offer its audience a toy experience that blends collectability with customization and competition. To achieve this, Sutikki has appointed Playmates Toys as the master toy partner for the brand and will roll out a range of products beginning this summer. An international roll out is also planned for spring 2019.

“‘Kuroba!’ has the potential to be the next big toy phenomenon for young girls,” says Karl Aaronian, senior vice president, marketing, Playmates Toys. “The brand takes a remarkable toy innovation, combines it with a familiar and proven form of game play and weaves in customization and collectability to make it a genuinely original offering.”

Sutikki licensed the patented and proprietary toy innovation of the “Kuroba!” brand from Boti Global, a Hong Kong-based company, to develop an animation and merchandising program based on this toy ideation.

“We are proud to be able to build great content from the ground up with compelling characters and a deep mythology that will connect kids to the experience of playing with ‘Kuroba!,” says Irene Weibel, co-founder, Sutikki. “YouTube is the perfect home for these shorts that feature friendship, comedy and epic ‘Kuroba!’ battles.”

Additionally, in a separate deal, Sutikki has tapped Universal Kids to serve as the U.S. television home of its upcoming preschool series “Moon and Me,” which will premiere later this year.
