King Features Syndicate, and TOTEM, a platform where digital figurines are created based on licenses, have announced an official Popeye digital collection. The deal was negotiated by MJA Licensing, King Features' agent in France.

Exclusive to TOTEM's website, the character will be available through a collection of five NFTs of different levels of rarity. Utilizing blockchain and advanced 3D technologies, TOTEM's stackable figurines are officially licensed and can be purchased by credit card or crypto wallet.

"We are excited to work with an innovative company like TOTEM to bring Popeye to life in a way that's never been done before," says Carla Silva, vice president, general manager, global head, licensing, King Features. "We are always looking for fresh ways for fans to experience our beloved sailor man, and TOTEM's commitment to launching eco-conscious collectibles in the Web3 world makes this partnership even more meaningful."

The first Popeye drop includes a first-of-its-kind feature that will allow collectors to "stack" up to three figurines. Later this year, TOTEM will release a second Popeye collection, plus other collections with King Features' characters Flash Gordon and The Phantom.

"Launching TOTEM Universe with a license as iconic as Popeye was a dream for us," says Michael Temim, artistic director, co-founder, TOTEM Universe. "This hero represents bravery, strength and determination, which are the values we share at TOTEM. We also had a strong resonance to Popeye's recent partnership with The SeaCleaners to save the oceans. TOTEM places a high importance on consideration for the ecological footprint we leave on our planet, which is why we chose Polygon, one of the most eco-responsible blockchains. We thank King Features for giving us the opportunity to introduce Popeye and friends to the world of digital collecting."
