VeVe, a mobile-first digital collectibles platform, has announced it has joined forces with artist, Gary Baseman. The partnership will bring Baseman’s characters and artwork onto the blockchain as verifiable digital art and collectibles.

The first series of collectibles, featuring Baseman’s Toby character, was released on March 26. Toby debuted in a 2005 fine art exhibition as a vinyl plush figure with a limited edition of 200, alongside original drawings and paintings.

“I’m excited to expand my art into the digital realm, especially with my character, Toby, whose risk-taking and adventure spirit fits perfectly with this endeavor,” says Baseman. “Toby is reborn with VeVe, allowing his universe to expand. A symbol of friendship and wonder, Toby invites everyone to play and share and connect in this world. As Toby would say, ‘Play with me, or else.’”

“The introduction of Gary Baseman to VeVe means fans can collect art from this world-renowned artist in an entirely new format for the first time,” says David Yu, chief executive officer, VeVe. “Baseman’s beloved characters are a perfect fit for our platform as we continue to give fans new options within the digital art space to get involved and expand their portfolio of NFTs.”
