NBC Sets Ratings Records

Thirteen is proving to be a very lucky number for NBC. In the network’s 13th year hosting the Olympic Games (the most of any U.S. media company), NBC is busting ratings records.

Not only did Friday’s Opening Ceremony have higher ratings than any other non-U.S. Olympics before it, but the first night of competition was also the most watched Summer Games ever.

An average of 28.7 million viewers tuned in Saturday, nearly 5 million more than the 2008 Beijing Games and 9 million more than the last European Olympics (Athens, 2004).
