Vintage home electronics brand PYE, once famous for their portable turntables, has appointed brand licensing consultancy Golden Goose to re-launch its brand.
Founded in Cambridge, England, in 1896, PYE manufactured the first wireless receivers in time to receive the BBC’s first-ever broadcasts in 1922 and later, in 1937, started selling 5-inch televisions.
Golden Goose plans to re-launch the vintage brand through a full brand licensing program.
“The PYE brand is ripe for licensing," says Adam Bass, director, Golden Goose. "With the current trend for vintage and nostalgia which we are calling 'nowstalgia,' there is a real opportunity to develop a range of audio products that benefit from the iconic PYE brand and styling. At one point in the '70s, every teenager listened to records on their PYE record player, and we are looking for licensees to develop home audio equipment and accessories that are true to the PYE brand’s famous design values and re-establish this classic British property."
