To celebrate 40 years of “The Snowman” and 10 years of “The Snowman and the Snowdog” film adaptations, Penguin Ventures, the licensing and consumer products division of Penguin Random House Children’s, has partnered with ODEON to bring the films to cinemas nationwide this winter.
The hour-long theatrical screening will offer families the chance to experience the magic of “The World of The Snowman” like never before, with a double feature of both film adaptions at ODEON theaters this festive season. The films are inspired by the late Raymond Briggs’ picture book, “The Snowman.”
“Our partnership with ODEON is a perfect match and will allow families across the U.K. an opportunity to watch these beautiful animations on the big screen perhaps for the first time,” says David Sprei, commercial director, Penguin Ventures. “We have an incredibly engaged fanbase for ‘The World of The Snowman’ and our screening and experience business is a crucial way to ensure that we continue to offer immersive opportunities for families and friends during the festive season.”
The theatrical re-release will be launched at ODEON Leicester Square, London, where celebrity families and U.K. influencers will be invited to attend an exclusive premiere event to promote the anniversary screenings across the U.K. Guests will be treated to foyer activities, followed by the double-bill screening.
This winter, Penguin Random House Children’s will be celebrating 10 years of friendship and fun with “The Snowman and the Snowdog” as well as marking 40 years of “The Snowman” animation. A series of special events and digital activations will occur for families and fans so they can celebrate with “The Snowman and the Snowdog,” wherever they are, this festive season.
