Theater licensor Samuel French has partnered with Marvel Entertainment to produce a series of short plays based on iconic superhero characters.

The first play in the lineup will focus on Marvel characters Thor and Loki, Playbill reports. Tony Award-winner Christian Borle will write “Hammered: A Thor & Loki” play that focuses on the teenage rivalry between the Asgardian siblings. Joining the Thor play are “Mirror of Most Value: a Ms. Marvel Play” by Masi Asare, which is about fan fiction that goes too far, and “Squirrel Girl Goes to College” by Karen Zacarías that follows Doreen Green as she attempts to live a lowkey life at a new school.

All the plays in the collection are focused on the young adult demographic and available to be licensed by educational institutions with varied budgets.

“Over the last 80 years, the Marvel Universe has grown to inspire billions across the globe by telling relatable, personal stories reflecting the world outside our window,” says Stephen Wacker, vice president, creative and content development, Marvel Entertainment. “With these amazing plays and this uncanny group of talented playwrights, we hope to give the next generation of Marvel fans a chance to bring those stories to life and explore what it means to be a superhero right in their own backyard.”

A steady stream of Marvel films will follow the plays, with features set to roll out in movie theaters through at least 2027.
