Lionsgate Opens Theme Park in China
Indoor theme park will boast attractions inspired by franchises including The Hunger Games and The Twilight Saga.
Lionsgate Studios has announced it will launch a new theme park attraction in Hengqin, Zhuhai, China on July 31.
Lionsgate Entertainment World is set to create immersive entertainment offerings and experiences for the studios portfolio of film properties. Spanning 22,000 square feet of indoor space, the park features attractions based on movies including The Hunger Games franchise, The Twilight Saga, The Divergent Series, Now You See Me, Gods of Egypt and Escape Plan.
“From escaping the Capitol, to braving the mental and physical challenges of Dauntless, to taking on a newborn vampire army with Jacob and the Wolf Pack, we can’t wait for fans to step into the worlds of their favorite films to create their own authentic adventures,” says Jenefer Brown, senior vice president, global live and location-based entertainment, Lionsgate.
Initial attractions at the park include:
The Twilight Saga–Midnight Ride, the world’s first multiplayer, interactive, hyper-reality VR motorbike simulator experience, where guests will interact with friends and family as they race alongside Jacob and the Wolf Pack on a daring adventure through moonlit woods;
Gods of Egypt–Battle for Eternity, the world’s first purpose-built indoor VR roller coaster where guests journey through ancient Egypt and soar over the pyramids in an epic adventure and
Hunger Games–Mockingjay Flight Rebel Escape, a state-of-the-art, multiple motion-based 3D cabin simulator experience where guests will take flight alongside the rebellion as they attempt to escape from the Capitol.
In addition to high-tech rides, the park will have immersive experinces such as the Hunger Games-inspired Capitol Club and Peeta’s Bakery. It will also offer a wide selection of shopping experiences, including Capitol Couture, Dauntless Ink and Long’s Magic Shop.
