NBCUniversal has inked a deal with Mystery Escape Room to bring “Downton Abbey” to the immersive entertainment vertical.

The first officially-licensed escape room based on the “Downton Abbey” series will launch in Salt Lake City, UT this summer. It will take inspiration from the show by basing the room’s mystery on show characters and recreating the abbey itself as a location. Escape room participants will also be able to touch set pieces from the show while attempting to solve puzzles.

“We are very excited and humbled to be working with a media giant like NBCUniversal to bring the drama of the beloved television series ‘Downton Abbey’ to life in one of our escape rooms,” says Leslie Pardew, owner, Mystery Escape Room. “The show is perfect for the experience because ‘Downton Abbey’ is such a wonderful place and has such a rich set of characters and stories to draw from–we look forward to transporting our guests into the ‘Downton Abbey’ world in a truly fun and unique way.”

The “Downton Abbey” property has continued to gain licensing support, recently securing deals with Activision for a video game and taking the show on tour with a traveling exhibition.
