Tech brand has signed the first-ever licensing deal for its newest brand–Blackberry Secure.

ASIA–Iconic smartphone brand BlackBerry is capitalizing on the increased focus on cyber security to launch its new BlackBerry Secure brand, featuring a suite of security software.

It’s first licensing deal under the new BlackBerry Secure brand, Yangzhou New Telecom Science and Technology Company (NTD) will develop a line electronics that will be branded by OEMs, carriers and local smartphone brands and marketed as BlackBerry Secure, as well as be outfitted with the accompanying BlackBerry security software.

The first device in the collection, an all-touch smartphone, will feature BlackBerry’s suite of device software security technologies. The phone, which will also feature secure enterprise collaboration technology from Equiis Technologies Switzerland, is expected to launch in early 2018.

“This marks the next phase of our licensing strategy, which is focused on enabling vendors to bring to market mobile communication devices that aren’t just secure, but BlackBerry Secure,” says Alex Thurber, senior vice president and general manager, mobility solutions, BlackBerry. “We’re thrilled to partner with NTD and Equiis and look forward to extending this dynamic relationship to include more carriers and a range of devices.”

The agreement also builds on BlackBerry’s previous partnerships with BB Merah Putih, Optemius and TCL, which saw those companies bring BlackBerry-branded devices, such as the BlackBeery KEYone smartphone, to market.
