Scholastic Inks Four-Book Deal with Dav Pilkey

Dav Pilkey, author of the "Captain Underpants" book series, has scored a four-book deal with Scholastic.

The first title, "The Adventures of Ook and Gluk, Cavemen from the Future," will hit shelves on Aug. 10 through Scholastic imprint, Blue Sky Press. The global rights agreement was secured by Amy Berkower, president of Writers House for Pilky, and Ellie Berger, president of the Scholastic Trade division.

"Dav Pilkey is one of the world's most innovative, hilarious and adored creators of children's books working today," says Berger. "Scholastic is proud to introduce Dav Pilkey's legions of fans, as well as young readers lucky enough to be discovering 'Captain Underpants' for the first time, to new out-of-this-world Captain Underpants' adventures, starting with 'Ook and Gluk.'"

Pilkey's "The Adventures of Captain Underpants" launched in September 2007 and the series has sold more than 45 million books in North America.
