Rainbow has signed a multiyear European master toy deal with Bandai for its new children's animated television series "PopPixie," which premieres in spring 2010.

The Pixie characters first appeared in Winx Club in 2006.

"As soon as the pixies appeared on screens they instantly became popular with children, achieving excellent results both in terms of viewer numbers and product sales," says Ignino Straffi, founder of Rainbow. "For this reason, I decided to bring these cute mini fairies to life and give them their own show and a licensing program tailor-made around the brand. Combining Bandai's expertise in creative toy development and impressive distribution strength, we feel very confident this toy line will be very successful among children around the world."

A limited range of PopPixie dolls was launched in the Italian market in 2006. Under the new deal, Bandai will produce a complete toy line including dolls, figurines, plush and play sets for distribution throughout Europe in autumn 2010.

"PopPixie is undoubtedly going to be a key brand for Bandai," says José Antonio Vargas, president of Bandai Europe. "We have been greatly impressed with Rainbow's creativity and are confident that the show will be very popular worldwide, which will consequently drive strong demand for the associated toy line."

"PopPixie," 52x15, has been presold to more than 20 countries worldwide. The brand already has 25 licensees on board in Italy ready to roll out products from books to apparel and stationery in 2010.
