Nickelodeon is reassuring the industry and consumers that the new iteration of Dora is age appropriate and reflects a message of self-empowerment and adventure. The company also wants to make the point that there will be no changes to the TV show or current preschool toys and dolls.

An illustration of the upcoming tween fashion doll line, Dora's Explorer Girls, from Mattel and Nickelodeon has been released.

Tween_Dora_edit.jpgThe new line to hit stores this fall is geared toward girls ages 5 and up. Dora's Explorer Girls will feature dolls with accessories and computer-connected features. Using the computer mouse, girls can change the hair length, earring color, necklace color and eye color of their Dora doll. An online destination will offer girls a virtual Dora world with mysteries to explore and solve, downloadable speech and music as well as a "magical alert system" tied to the doll. Besides Dora, the line will include four of her friends.
