Production has begun on a new animated TV feature based on Dante's Inferno from Electronic Arts and Starz Media's Film Roman. EA is also working on a game for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, due out in 2010.

"The animated feature will be a great companion to the game," says Jonathan Knight, executive producer and creative director for "Dante's Inferno." "This feature will explore aspects of the poem that the game does not, and will provide more insight into the characters and the unique story adaptation that the game has established."

"Dante's Inferno" will be introduced at MipTV in Cannes this week. Anchor Bay Entertainment will manage the worldwide entertainment distribution rights and Starz Media will handle international television and domestic syndication sales, as well as global digital distribution.

This is the second time the two companies have partnered. Film Roman produced animated feature "Dead Space: Downfall" in 2008, based on EA's video game Dead Space.

Electronic Arts (Booth #3013) is exhibiting at this year's Licensing International Expo to be held June 2-4 in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Resort.
