Copyright Promotions Licensing Group is expanding its international reach with the opening of CPLG Japan, the company's first office in Asia. Managing director of the business is Hideki Kunugiyama.

CPLG, which was bought by Cookie Jar Entertainment in 2008, has licensing and merchandise programs in Japan for a wide range of properties including Strawberry Shortcake, Caillou, The Doodlebops, Richard Scarry, Inspector Gadget, Johnny Test, Magi-Nation and Metajets. Kunugiyama will also expand CPLG's portfolio of entertainment and sports properties by signing new third-party brands.

Kunugiyama will work with Julie Ninomiya, Cookie Jar Entertainment's vice president of Asian distribution and co-productions, to sign new co-production partners, increase distribution sales and expand business development efforts in Asia.

Kunugiyama has an extensive background in product development and production. He has worked for Tokyo-based K2N and for WiZ, Co.
