NORTH AMERICA–The newly announced “Need for Speed” panel at the 2018 NYC Licensing Summit will focus on one of the most pressing issues in the brand licensing business today–how to get products into the hands of fans fast when a brand goes viral.

In the new world of social media and streaming video, brands can take off overnight and retailers want product by the next morning. Adapting the development cycle to meet the increased speed of consumer and retailer demand has become a critical challenge for IP owners and licensees. “The Need for Speed: Responding to Trends in a Social Media World” session at the 2018 NYC Licensing Summit, which is sponsored by Dependable Solutions, will feature licensees, retailers and IP owners who have found innovative ways to strike while the iron’s hot.

Panelists will include:

  • Brian Mann, VP of Licensing and Business Development at Loot Crate, which has an innovative system for identifying trends and quickly responding with new products for its various pop culture-inspired subscription boxes;

  • Cindy Levitt, VP and General Merchandise Manager at Hot Topic, BoxLunch and Her Universe, whose success at getting the hottest brands on shelf fast makes them a stand-out among brick-and-mortar retailers; and

  • Charlotte Clisby, co-founder and Chief Commerical Officer at Evode Group, whose subsidiary Merchmaker is breaking new ground with its white label, print-on-demand solution for retailers.

  • This session will be moderated by Jennifer Sullivan, president of the strategic marketing company memBrain, which works a vast range of brands from Logitech to Hasbro to Intel.

The “Need for Speed” panel is being sponsored by Dependable Solutions, which provides a portfolio of web-based solutions to automate contract management, financial, royalty and creative operations.

Finding success in the changing retail and media marketplaces will be a key focus of the 2018 NYC Summit, which will be held at the Convene events venue in Times Square Feb. 20.
