Licensing Expo is adding a new Digital Media Licensing Summit to the calendar of events at the 2015 show, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nev., June 9-11.

The summit, which will be held in the afternoon of June 8 (the day before the trade show opens), is a first-of-its kind program that will create a bridge between the manufacturers and retailers of licensed products and the world’s most successful digital media companies and stars. The event will be held in conjunction with Licensing University, which is organized by the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association.

The world’s most popular digital creators and franchises reach millions of engaged fans and consumers on a global basis, and have begun to extend their brands into various licensing categories. Recent examples include Michelle Phan’s Em Cosmetics line (in partnership with L’Oreal), Bethany Mota’s Aeropostale fashion and fragrance collections and the junior's fashion line S.o. R.a.d., created by Kohl's and DreamWorks' digital network AwesomenessTV.

The inaugural Digital Media Licensing Summit will start at 11:45 a.m. and feature keynotes and panels focusing on new business opportunities that leverage the tectonic shift in young consumers’ media habits. Discussions with high-level stars and executives will explore the future of licensing in categories including fashion, beauty, games, electronics, kids, home and more.

Among the executives slated to speak are:

  • Amy Kocourek, executive vice president and general merchandising manager at Kohl's;

  • Jim Fielding, global head of consumer products and retail at Dreamworks Animation and AwesomenessTV (AwesomenessTV will also exhibit at Licensing Expo for the first time this year);

  • Samantha Woolf, executive vice president and managing director of Blue Group Entertainment;

  • Executives from companies including Maker Studios and United Talent Agency; and

  • Digital stars such as Andrea Brooks, Hannah Hart, Connor Franta and more.

“Introducing the new digital exhibitors and attendees to Licensing Expo plays a key role in the future of the industry," says Jessica Blue, vice president, Licensing Expo. "For 35 years our event has featured the who’s who of the $251 billion licensing marketplace, and we are pleased to add a new digital aspect to an already strong show that features more than 15,700 of the world’s most influential licensing professionals.”

It is free to attend both Licensing Expo and the new Digital Media Licensing Summit. There is a modest fee to attend Licensing University, a 25-session conference series that runs from June 8-11.
