For the second year in a row, Binweevils.com was named Best Website in the Kids Vote section of the Children’s BAFTA Awards, held Sunday evening in London.
For five weeks, kids across the U.K. voted for the BAFTA Kids Vote awards. Other contenders in the Best Website category included CBBC, Club Penguin, Moshi Monsters, Disney and LEGO.
The social site for kids ages 6 to 12, lets children create their own avatar (called a Bin Weevil) and then socialize with other Bin Weevils, play games, work on puzzles, watch Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network TV shows and create their own business which include publishing magazines, creating parties and running a photo studio.
The BinWeevils.com licensing program currently boasts more than 20 partners in the U.K. for categories including toys, publishing, trading cards, apparel, accessories, homewares and food.
Plans are in place to launch the site in other English-speaking territories by late 2013.
