King Features Syndicate has announced that Popeye is teaming up with the French environmental preservation organization, The SeaCleaners, to emphasize the importance of ocean conservation and to help raise awareness of their efforts.

The SeaCleaners partnership with the sailor man Popeye will work to raise awareness among future generations and educate them on the importance of the issue, as well as encourage everyone to become an agent for change.

“Our oceans have been damaged by decades of pollution and mistreatment,” says Carla Silva, vice president and general manager, global head of licensing, King Features Syndicate.Popeye is proud to join forces with The SeaCleaners and support their revolutionary efforts to defend the sea.”

The SeaCleaners is an organization that focuses on long-term and worldwide preservation of the ocean and develops solutions to clear the ocean of floating plastic pollution. It integrates economics, social, human, educational and scientific perspectives to its projects.

“Strength, courage, integrity, perseverance: Popeye embodies essential values that inspire all those who love the sea across generations,” says Yvan Bourgnon, president and founder, SeaCleaners. “We are very proud to partner with this timeless hero to spread our message and engage a wider audience in this major fight against plastic pollution.
The partnership was brokered by King Features’ French agent, M.J.A. Licensing, who will also work to secure multiple co-branded Popeye x The SeaCleaners deals for apparel, accessories, home goods and more. A portion of those proceeds will then benefit The SeaCleaners organization and their efforts.
