Licensors Group Celebrates 10 Years

The Society of Product Licensors Committed to Excellence, a best practices think tank for licensors, celebrated its 10th anniversary Saturday.

Founded in 2004 by Anheuser-Busch, The Coca-Cola Company, Fisher-Price, Mattel, McDonald’s, Rich Products and The Walt Disney Company, the trade organization began with 17 member licensors and now boasts a roster of 56.

SPLiCE’s international membership covers more than 40 industry sectors, represents 22 percent of the Dow Jones Industrial Average and 33 percent of the 2013 Interbrand’s Top Global brands.

An anniversary celebration is being planned for September at the group’s Buffalo, NY headquarters.

“SPLiCE signifies best-in-class collaboration among a learned and professional community where licensing best practices are developed and shared,” says Gayle A. Jones, head of licensing, Proctor & Gamble, and acting SPLiCE chairman. “For me personally, there is no other organization within the licensing industry that provides a stage for continuous, hands-on learning for personal and business growth.”
