Nickelodeon veteran Russell Hicks and other industry alums have teamed up to create Curiosity Ink Media, a family -friendly content production company.

According to Variety, The L.A. based company will explore opportunities in TV animation, live-action programming, VR content, publishing and live event production beginning in 2019.

The company has also expressed an interest in vintage family entertainment and classic cartoon brands that have the potential to become relevant again through TV shows, books and merchandising. Curiosity is currently working to publish six books under its Curiosity Books header and is maintaining its initial focus on the North American market.

Hicks formerly served as the president of production and development at Nickelodeon and now works as Curiosity Media’s president and creative chief officer. He is joined by Brent Watts, former creative director of ad agency Struck, who now serves as chief strategy officer; as well Jon Rosenberg, a former member of MGM’s licensing arm, and Curiosity’s current vice president of publishing.
