Licensing industry veteran David Born has launched the new clip licensing firm Born Licensing in Australia.

The Melbourne-based agency aims to work with entertainment companies for the usage of content in advertising and other spaces, initially focusing on Australia and New Zealand.

"The clip licensing business is a lot broader than it sounds," says Born, who has held positions formerly at Haven Licensing, Warner Bros. Australia and Turner Broadcasting U.K. "There are many ways to leverage existing footage creatively. Additionally, there are a range of other clip licensing techniques that have proven to be effective such as using character likenesses, recreating an iconic TV show or movie scene, using themes and plots or ever simply featuring popular quotes and catch phrases."

Born Licensing will unveil its launch slate of licensors soon.
