EUROPE–Global homewares company Portmeirion has selected Metrostar to extend a selection of its patterns into new product categories in the U.K.

The licensing agency will now seek out partners that complement the company’s current product offering, particularly in categories such as stationery, toiletries, beauty, bags, accessories, home textiles, home décor, greetings, fashion, decorative gardening and outdoor products.

“We have extended many of our patterns from their tableware roots into kitchen textiles, placemats and home fragrance and we feel the time is right to explore other possibilities,” says Phil Atherton, group sales and marketing director, Portmeirion. “Metrostar shares our desire to create high-quality, well-designed products and we’re delighted to be working with them.”

The Portmeirion Group is known for creating products spanning tableware, cookware, giftware, tabletop accessories and home fragrance products across the Portmeirion, Spode, Royal Worcester, Pimpernel and Wax Lyrical brands.

“We have known Portmeirion for a long time and love their craft, their heritage and their creativity,” says Claire Potter, managing director, Metrostar. “They have a wonderful mix of contemporary and classic patterns; which are ideal for extension into new areas and we’re looking forward to showing them at BLE.”

Metrostar will showcase the Portmeirion brand at Brand Licensing Europe, Oct. 10-12, at stand Q10.
