FAM Plans Bally Fitness Trackers

FAM Brands is teaming up with Sakar International to develop fitness trackers and other electronic accessories under the Bally Total Fitness brand.

Sakar will debut its collection of Bally Total Fitness wearable technology, fitness monitoring and electronic accessories at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The products will reach stores during the second quarter of 2015.

Highlights of the line include a Bangle Dot Matrix Bluetooth activity tracker (in a range of colors that coordinate with other BTF products), heart rate monitors, Bluetooth activity trackers and an activity tracking watch. 

"We are very excited about debuting the Bally Total Fitness collection," says Liza Abrams, vice president, licensing and marketing, Sakar. "Its prominent brand name and our products are well-matched, and the success at retail is predicted to be enormous. We look forward to building this business together."

FAM Brands manufactured Bally Total Fitness activewear for 10 years before buying the apparel

rights in 2013. Other recent deals include extensions into socks (Cameo), swimwear (EMD) and Intimates (American Glory), all of which will arrive in stores in early 2015.
