More than 400 items will be sold, including a black eye-patch Wayne wore while filming
in 1969; the cowboy hat John Wayne wore during the 1975 sequel Rooster Cogburn; Wayne's Golden Globe award for Best Actor for his role in
; more than 50 movie scripts from such celebrated John Wayne films as
True Grit, The Green Berets, Stage Coach, Rio Lobo, The Hellfighters
Sons of Katie Elders,
including 20 annotated with Wayne’s handwritten notes; and Wayne’s cowboy boots and leather belts.
Public exhibitions of the John Wayne collection will be held in Dallas, Texas, and New York City before the auction takes place in Los Angeles Oct. 3-6.
